Hello! I’m Rebecca.
Welcome to Real Life Surprises.
Do you want purpose, compassion, and joy in your everyday life? Do you need help focusing on what really matters? This blog is for you.
The truth is that it is so easy to get side tracked from the things that are important. So many things feel urgent. We unknowingly (and knowingly) focus away from the things that really matter because it is easier to get the urgent things done and checked off than to invest energy and time on things that might not grant immediate reward. Fear gets in the way of living the life God intended for us live because we are unsure if God will take care of us. The temptation to keep up with the Jones is real and we don’t want to miss out on the good life that we see people pursuing after.
So many Christian parents struggle to find and keep purpose, compassion, and joy because they are pulled in all directions. Too often, we find ourselves dissatisfied, unhappy, and dead inside but think it is the “new normal” as life as parents.
Dissatisfaction, unhappiness, purposelessness, angst, and lack of joy are not the new normal for Christian parents.
My passion is to help you invest in what really matters. This investment takes work. Sometimes it means putting some blinders on. But, if you do the hard work of keeping your focus on Jesus and foster purpose, compassion, and joy in your life, I believe that you will have what you really need and want in life. Who wants to live a life running hard after things to find out that after all, it didn’t really matter? I sure don’t.
I invite you to grow with me as we learn from God how to live a full and abundant life as His children. Life has its surprises, so let the unexpected surprises of life help you to hone down on what really matters, what you really believe in, and what you really want in life.
In this blog, you will find stories, principles, lessons, reflections, and some funny anecdotes that will inspire, challenge, and spur you on towards living a full life.
