Rediscover Thanks Giving

Will you consider rediscovering thanks giving with me?

More than any other years, I am glad that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Why? Honestly, it has been a tough year for me. It has been a year where I have felt deep pain on multiple occasions. From the sudden, tragic losses of lives, to my own failures in love and generosity, to feeling heavy from all the upheaval in our world, I feel as though my heart has experienced multiple beatings.

Giving thanks has felt more of a discipline than a natural outflow for me this year.

My heart needs its bucket of gratitude to be full again. Sometimes, gratitude increases when you are surrounded by others who are giving thanks with you. Thanksgiving day is one day out of the year when many gather for that very purpose.

I need to rediscover thankfulness this season more than ever.

It is not one of these “I’m going to pretend that the world is instagram perfect, ignore all that is wrong, and give thanks.” No, I am facing all that is wrong in our world and seeking Jesus to help me rediscover gratitude when it can feel like it’d be better to only keep lamenting.

There is a time to lament.

But it doesn’t need to stop there.

We can give thanks even in midst of deep lamenting.

The Scripture again and again exhorts, teaches, and models giving thanks.

We are going to look at some key passages where thanks giving is offered and exhorted for the next two and half weeks until Thanksgiving Day. You will receive an email from me every few days with a reflection from Scripture to inspire and challenge you to rediscover thanks giving. My prayer is that you would be inspired and challenged to rediscover giving thanks and the balm that it is to our soul.

This mini-challenge is for me, as much as it is for you. If you would like to join me in rediscovering thanks giving this season, you can sign-up below. (If for some reason, the opt-in window doesn’t show, you can always go to my homepage and you can sign up!) I am looking forward to going through this mini-challenge with you!
